Multi-Key Event Check

Keyboard Ghosting Test

Check whether selected key combinations reach your browser together. Save complete or incomplete snapshots, review missing and additional events, and retry combinations relevant to your use.

Select Test Mode
Choose combinations for your scenario. Use a physical keyboard; mobile virtual keyboards cannot perform real multi-key ghosting checks.

The test saves a snapshot as soon as all target keys are reported together. No hold time is required. For an incomplete attempt, record the best observed snapshot, retry, or skip.

Not Tested

Start focuses this area. Keys are captured only here; Esc pauses capture. Navigation, form controls and copy remain available.

What is Keyboard Anti-Ghosting?

Ghosting refers to an unintended extra key report; blocking refers to an expected key not being reported. This page records browser events, so missing or additional events must be checked against your actual actions. An incomplete snapshot alone does not identify a hardware fault.

Passing selected combinations does not establish full N-key rollover. Test the combinations you actually use and keep the browser/OS context with the result.

Browser Environment: May have additional limitations on simultaneous key detection

The test saves a snapshot as soon as all target keys are reported together. No hold time is required. For an incomplete attempt, record the best observed snapshot, retry, or skip.

How to interpret keyboard ghosting results

Multi-key tests are most useful when you understand the difference between missed keys, extra keys, rollover limits, and browser limits.

Use a physical keyboard on a desktop or laptop. Mobile virtual keyboards cannot hold the same key combinations and are not suitable for NKRO or ghosting checks.

What it detects

Whether expected multi-key combinations are reported together, which keys are missed, and whether extra unexpected keys appear.

Interpreting incomplete observations

Results describe browser events in selected combinations, not full NKRO or a hardware grade. Missing or extra events need confirmation: physical actions, focus, OS shortcuts and firmware can affect what arrives.

Laptop, mechanical, and external keyboards

Mechanical, laptop or gaming labels do not establish rollover capacity by themselves. Check the manufacturer’s specifications for the selected connection and mode, then repeat the combinations you actually need. Report only the combinations observed in that setup.

Browser and system limits

The browser only sees key events delivered by the operating system. Reserved shortcuts, focus loss, keyboard layout, USB HID mode, and Bluetooth connection quality can affect detection.

Mobile limits

Phone touch keyboards do not expose simultaneous physical key presses. Use mobile only for reading the guide unless you have a real external keyboard attached.

Keyboard Ghosting Test FAQ

Common questions about keyboard ghosting and anti-ghosting features

What is keyboard ghosting?

Ghosting refers to an unintended extra key report; blocking refers to an expected key not being reported. This page records browser events, so missing or additional events must be checked against your actual actions. An incomplete snapshot alone does not identify a hardware fault.

What is NKRO (N-Key Rollover)?

N-key rollover means the keyboard can report its keys in arbitrary simultaneous combinations. A few successful presets cannot establish that property for every combination. This test reports only the selected combinations it observed.

Why is anti-ghosting important for gaming?

Many games require pressing multiple keys simultaneously (e.g., WASD + Shift + Space). Anti-ghosting ensures all key presses are registered, preventing missed inputs during gameplay.

Do all mechanical keyboards have anti-ghosting?

Mechanical, laptop or gaming labels do not establish rollover capacity by themselves. Check the manufacturer’s specifications for the selected connection and mode, then repeat the combinations you actually need. Report only the combinations observed in that setup.

Why does my keyboard only support 6 simultaneous keys?

There is no universal six-key limit for USB keyboards. Reporting capacity depends on the device, report mode and firmware, and the browser also depends on OS delivery. A six-key preset or an incomplete attempt cannot establish the keyboard’s maximum.
